My Fitness Journey Part 1 | October 1st 2014

I made it a goal for me to workout religiously throughout the summer, and not to toot my own horn, but I think I really stuck to it. Mid April I started working out since I was on break from school and it was fun at first.

My Routine
  • Wake up at 8:30
  • Run outside for 30-40 minutes (2-3 miles)
  • Eat Breakfast- Oatmeal w/ sugar free syrup, fruit, and a banana
  • Eat Lunch always at 2:00PM- Mostly wraps and vegetables
  • Eat Dinner- Varied

This was literally all I did till I got my membership to the gym. Which now looking back wasn't really doing much in terms of building muscle except in my calf's. As I got more into working out Instagram became a big part of my take on fitness, and how I should look and what I should eat. It was nice running and I actually improved from last summer, actually being able to run the entire time.Seeing people on Instagram though can really do a doosie to you! A lot are fitness people who count macros, have 8 pack abs, and eat the same thing everyday. Not saying any of this is a bad thing, but it can really affect someones feelings about themselves and how they should look .For example, I first set out in the summer to just be fit, then it was more about eating NOTHING bad, and then having a six pack. Mind you I still don't have a six pack, lol. I also got really into counting calories and watching what I ate very religiously. I also stopped eating things I loved eating like salt & vinegar chips, ramen noodles, cheese, white bread, and the list goes on. It sounds like a good thing, and it was to an extent, like switching from white to wheat, and trading out chips for vegetables. Everything became about food though, oatmeal for breakfast, and planning all day for lunch and dinner. Also mind you I didn't/don't really need to lose weight.

My point is, is that it's nice to want to lose weight and keep fit, but don't let it become you, I am still working on this. Also don't let social media tell you how you should look or what you should do, everyone's different, have different body types, genetics, lose weight easier than one body part than another, and so on.

While I do believe in not making excuses for not wanting to workout don't let it consume you.

TO BE CONTINUED...

Photos of the week and other lost photographs | August 10th 2014

This wasn't this week but I seriously love these pancakes! They are whole wheat blueberry pancakes and they are heaven in your mouth. Here I had 2 pancakes, sugar free syrup, and a banana! The recipe is from Garnish & Glaze!

Also not from this week but it looked and tasted to good to pass up! These are chicken fajitas with lots of lettuce, tomatoes, some cheese, and a side of Spanish rice, my favorite!

For one of my lunches last week I had a crabcake (I have a new obsession with these), potatoes (the Alexia ones in my What I Ate video here), some spinach, and half of an apple pie quest bar. I didn't like the quest bar at all, so I ate some date crackers instead!

This dinner was scrumptious! This was a pork chop, some veggies, pasta salad, and mango salsa.

Finally on to some meals this week! I had some delicious marinated salmon, I think in soy sauce and other goodness. Also some grilled asparagus topped with Parmesan, and some veggies to round it out. This was amazing seriously.

My grandma came to visit  which was so fun and I am so sad she is leaving today! We wanted to do some fun things while she was here so we made a trip back in time and you will see what I am talking about later. This was a delicious peanut butter and jelly sandwhich on potato bread that we had there. This was seriously THE BEST Pb&j I ever had. On the side was some pesto pasta which was also good.

Dinner the other night was Salisbury steak topped with some gravy, a side of fresh hand mashed potatoes, and creamy spinach. I might have ate the reminents of the spinach that was in the pan. Oops!

After dinner we made a trip to Sweet Frog! I had 1/2 cup of graham cracker froyo, pineapple, cookie dough, strawberries, blueberries, and one brownie bite! Wish I had gotten 2 bites. I didn't even eat hardly any before it started melting! It was still good!

So we were playing on traveling to an old part of town where they have enactments and such, but got lost and ended up at the ferry. It was a good mistake though because it was my first time and so fun and cool.

The waters!

Here is an outfit of the day!
+pants-Urban Outfitters
+Sandals- Payless ?
+Cropped Tee- Forever 21

How cool does this look?! It's like going back in time! You had to pay to go into a lot of reenactments and  buildings and nobody got time for that, so we just looked at the free stuff and in the shops! Honestly in was just as fun, maybe even more!

Here is a look into one of the shops!

This was an old timely game called Bilbo Catcher that I was really bad at.

After we left we made our way to the outlet mall. This one had the more expensive stores like Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, and Kate Spade (pictures above). I had never been into Kate Spade and was so excited to go in. I really do love everything in there but Whooo, I didn't know it was that pricey. I will own one of her bags one day, just not today, or tomorrow, or next year probably.

Now that I have taken about 15 minutes of your precious time, I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Weekend Favorites | August 4th 2014

I have really been craving donuts, and not just any donut. I want one of those milky bun donuts filled with cake batter ice cream and sprinkles! Alas one of those places is not close to me so the next best thing is a donut rug of course. Rugs are not only decorative but super functional. I could definitely see this as a welcome mat. I know your burning inside to make this so head on over to The House That Lars Built now.

This nail art makes me berry, berry happy! Sorry, I had to do it! Strawberries are one of my favorite berries and what better way to express your love than on your nails. It looks so nice that it may look hard, but the tutorial makes it look super easy. Does this make you berry happy? If so, whip on over Wonder Forest.

Reasons why this makes me smile:
1. I LOVE potatoes
2. I LOVE green beans
3. I LOVE feta cheese
Need I say more?
Oh yes! Head on over to Drum Beets for the amaze ball recipe.

Colors like lime green and salmon mixed with light blues and a crisp white are my favorite combinations to see in the summer. A good sheath dress is always a nice bonus to have in your wardrobe because it's effortless and oh so easy. I like this one especially because it's so versatile from a night out with the girls to a mid-evening wedding. To see more of this one-of-a-kind get up head on over to What Courtney Wore.

I seriously follow over 900 people on Instagram. Why you ask? I just like looking at other people's memories through photographs.  I got tired of looking at the same people's photos, so I followed more. I don't have nearly as many followers as I follow, but my pictures are for me before anyone else, and if people happen to like them, well that's amazing. I will say it's quite a lot because when I refresh there is always a whole new batch of photos. Instagram is one of my favorites because it's fun to capture moments and for the most part inspires lots of people and of course be inspires. Follow me here if you fancy!

Speaking of Instagram, this is where I found my last favorite. This blog is called Food By Skylar. It's about a girl living in New York who has a goal to try all the food places in New York. I want to travel to New York JUST to try some of the places she has been. Seriously if you want to see some good food and reviews whip on over to her blog and follow her on Instagram at Nycdining!

Explorin' | August 1st 2014

You ever had one of those days you feel you want to do something, ANYTHING but not spend money? I think I have those days a lot because most things in life are not free. The mall is fun and Target is nice but after a while going in there is to routine. So I skipped the big box stores and decided to roam around town and lunch with my sister. You would be surprised how many cool places you can find in your "neck of the woods." I will have some cool things I spotted at an antique shop and lunch of course after the jump, but first let's talk clothes. If I had to describe this outfit in one word it would be comfort. Nothing is better on a hot summer day than a plain tee, breezy shorts, some breathable shoes, and I can't forget my cardigan because your girl gets cold when shes inside.

T-shirt- Old Navy
Shorts-Kmart
Shoes-Cotton On
Cardigan- Cotton On
Necklace- Claire's

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We had lunch at Applebee's , it was delish, heaven in my mouth, and only $4.20 not including the tip because we had a coupon! That's just what I like! This was tomato basil soup and a house salad with no dressing, oh and a breadstick.

Then we explored some cool antique shops and these are just a few of the things I wanted to take home.

Hope your having a great Friday, and hopefully you can get out and explore your town!

Week Through Instagram & Other Lost Pictures | July 11th 2014

This is actually from this morning. I usually like to eat oatmeal with a banana, but I ate them all. #thestruggle. I opted for an egg instead and some yummy blueberry lime jam, that is made from a farm, which I think makes it full of only natural sugars!

If you follow me on Instagram you know the story behind this picture, it was a baby bit traumatic to say the least! Any who if you want to know the deets, you can follow me on my Insta by clicking my flip feed in the top right corner! This is my usual running gear/workout gear and these shorts are super comfortable, they are from Kohls!

I follow SO many people on Instagram it's crazy actually. I like to screen shot really tasty meals I want to make our try because you can only go back and look at so many pictures you've liked. I am not gluten-free but this looked to good not to put in my archives to try.

Like I said I like to screen shot things. Today if you dress up as a cow you can get a free meal from Chick-fil-a. Who doesn't like a free meal?! Honestly I probably won't go because I don't have a cool cow costume and I really have my mind set on some grilled cheese for lunch, YUM!
I think I needed to add more lettuce to this salad because I was hungry like 2 hours after I ate it. It could also be because I worked out and worked up a big appetite, who knows! Not me obviously. Anyways, the salad was still delish. On the salad was ham, turkey, feta cheese, romaine lettuce, and salad supreme. I usually don't eat dressing on my salad because I think it taste pretty good without it, unless it's Cesar salad, especially Olive Garden's! These were some bangin' sweet potato fries, and the smoothie was one of those pre-frozen package ones you just add liquid to.

Shout out to one of  my favorite peeps on her birthday, also a throwback.

My mom, sister, and I made some melt in your mouth tuna noodle casserole, it was amazing. As you can see we really put a dent in it, literally. If you haven't tried it before I recommend trying it at least once, and you would be surprised on how many foods you like after you try them for the first time.

Last night my mom and I made some short-ribs with mashed potatoes and greens. Lets take a second to revel in my moms awesome plating skills. The meat was super tender, the greens super flavorful, and the mashed potatoes, well I just LOVE potatoes! Can you tell I love food too?!

These are some lost pictures of my #ootd because I can't leave you without talking about some clothing too!

Love my high-waisted shorts from American Apparel. They were expensive, but they are comfortable and they go with almost everything! My baseball tee is from Forever 21 and my lace socks are from Payless.

I guess these look like running shorts because two people asked me was I going running the day I wore these. The shorts are from JcPenneys, the tee from Old Navy, and my go to shoes-Keds.

I think it was raining this day, so I threw on my Keds of course, some high-waisted leggings from Forever 21 as well as the cropped tee, and a light weight cardigan from Cotton On.

Not all of these photos are on Instagram, but most are so if you want to follow me and see some more it would be wonderful! Also check out some people I follow because most of their feeds are awesome!
